Vidéo 9 laying the Kingplank
vidéo en streaming arête centrale

It is important that the centre line of the vessel is accurately measured first..........

Using a template, work out the shape of the winch base or large fitting if one exists.

Then cut out the shape of the winch base by laying the paper template over the Kingplank and mark it off with a pen.

Cut out any other shapes or obstacles that may exist.  Our vessel has its winch base set just off the centre.

It is not uncommon for irregularities like this to occur.

To create the curve around the bow, use a paper template and draw the curved shape.

Then cut out the point using an off-cut of decking to mark the correct width of the curved piece.

Using a section of planking, lay the template down and mark out the front curved strip before cutting out the nose shaped front piece.  Finally cut off the end of the Kingplank to fit the shape of the nose piece and ensure it sits snugly.
